“We will grow with a plant in Madrid and another in San Sebastián or Navarra” Interview with Javier Sánchez in La Voz de Galicia (April 2021)
Some relevant comments:
Year 2020:
“We grew too much. We had problems accessing raw materials, and sales were very irregular during the year, in which we also experienced an increase in production costs. But we can’t complain.”
Confinement moment:
«When the confinement occurred, we had to react. Organizationally it was complicated. The raw material had to be delivered to the four plants. For example, the company in Alicante, which normally manufactures for the textile and footwear sector, had to supply food. All this reorganization was hard and laborious. Impossible to do if it weren’t for the fact that we really have a human team that was fully involved. The company too. When there was a lot of fear of job loss, there was a commitment not to make ERTE or decrease the workforce.
Strategic plan:
“The strategic plan called for an acquisition this year. But last year we bought the Ferrol plant, which was not planned, and considering that 2021 is a year full of uncertainties, we have decided to postpone the purchases planned for 2022 and 2023. We want to incorporate a plant in the south of Madrid and another in the north of Spain, for the exit to Europe.”
Export:
«We want that in five years at least 25% of our turnover (we would talk about 12 million euros) is export. We sell in South America, Portugal, Ireland, Brittany, Holland, Italy, and Tunisia. We bet on the diversification of markets and the non-concentration of clients. Last year we managed a portfolio of 479 clients. We want at least 25% of our turnover these five years to be exports and we want Europe to be an important part of exports. A plant closer to the border will increase our competitiveness.”
